Windows 10 EOL: be the early bird
Be honest, are you a procrastinator?
Do you have a reputation for being *fashionably late*?
Do you hang on until the last possible moment in the hope of nabbing a bargain?
Maybe your budget doesn’t allow for a large outlay at the moment. Is your cash flow looking precarious?
Or does life just get in the way, so that you never seem to get around to the items further down your to do list?
You surely know by now that Windows 10 is reaching end of life. Your final date is 14 October 2025. As they say on road traffic signs, this is a limit, not a target!
If your Windows 10 computer is not too old, you may be able to upgrade to Windows 11. Even if it is eligible for upgrade, the performance of your old PC may not be up to the demands of the newer operating system. If it’s over the hill, you are going to have to invest in new tech.
Just wanted to warn you that you might not be onto a winner by leaving your Windows 11 computer purchases until October. In fact, it may pay to be the *early bird* – you know, the one that catches the worm!
Do you recall the scramble for laptops when lockdown was imposed at the start of the Covid pandemic, as businesses attempted to equip their staff to enable them to *work from home*? In 2020 we experienced ever-increasing prices coupled with ever-decreasing supply; yes, it was the classic supply and demand scenario.
We have been ordering Windows 11 computers for our customers for some time now, but for the first time last week, our trusted vendor warned us that prices have started to rise. I don’t want to persuade you to start panic-buying (we are not in the lockdown toilet roll and pasta situation just yet!), but if you can afford it, now would be a good time to get those replacement PCs and get them set up while work is calm due to summer holidays, and you don’t have the final deadline looming over you.
Still not sure if you should be panicking? Computer Troubleshooters can check out your IT kit to advise if upgrade or replacement is required.
